Developing Cadherin-11 antagonists to modify tissue biology in rheumatoid arthritis and fibrosis

Synovex is developing a next generation, non-immunosuppressive treatment for fibrosis that occurs in fibrotic diseases and debilitating cartilage destruction in rheumatoid arthrits.

The company's therapeutic program is based on pioneering work in the laboratory of Dr. Michael Brenner at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Research in his laboratory identified the protein Cadherin-11 (Cad-11) as a key mediator of joint destruction in rheumatoid arthritis, and separately with Dr. Sandeep Agarwal, demonstrated that Cad-11 is an important contributor the pathology of pulmonary and skin fibrosis.
